escoot: Maui, Hawaii; Many people who visit wonder what it is about living on Maui that makes everyone here seem so happy and tranquil. Living on Maui definitely gives you a sense of happiness, and respect for both people and nature. It gives you a feeling of belonging. Family, or ohana as we say, is at the center of life. The spiritual traditions of the Hawaiians are integrated into the culture. Their spirituality and everyday life are woven together, Ua hilo `ia i ke aho a ke aloha, "braided with the cords of love. The "Aloha Spirit" is all about friendliness, and many Hawaiian customs exist to reinforce a strong sense of community. So here I am enjoying life with island flavor! From its tasty foods to casual dress, Hawaiian is a good way to be.
